History of Our Village

The Ottawa County Commissioners were petitioned on June 2nd, 1890 to incorporate the Village of Marblehead. The petition was filed with the State of Ohio and Marblehead was incorporated January 2nd, 1891. The first Council meeting was held on April 14, 1891 in Temperance Hall on Alexander Pike. Present at that meeting were Mayor Winslow Griesser, Clerk George Eberwine, Legal Advisor Solomon Slauss and Councilmen John Burns, Dan Griesser, Tim Larkins, Henry Pokey, Jerry Tracey and William Schmidt.
